Haraam Chai captures the supposed taboo relationship between Zahra, a hijabi-wearing Muslim woman, and Pradeep, her Sikh colleague from Work.

Unable to resist their mutual feelings of attraction, the two meet up for a harmless cup of chai… little do they know that this is the beginning of a long-term relationship.

While Zahra is a devout Muslim, Pradeep believes that all religions are in essence the same and dismisses any notion of moral differences between the two.

However, when put to test, Pradeep has second thoughts which brings their relationship to an end. Some months later the two coincidentally meet again but does distance really make the heart grow fonder? Or does time apart lead to new beginnings?

The screenplay for Haraam Chai has been written by Armaan Kirmani and Jaz Deol.
