A charity has said it is delighted to be shortlisted for 'Charity of the Year'.
Muslim Global Relief will be among the finalist at next week's (January 31) British Muslim Awards being held in Bradford.
Muslim Global Relief is a Nelson based UK based international and relief organization working on humanitarian issues.
The principal aims and objectives of the MGR are the relief of poverty and sickness anywhere in the world, and in particular, those affected by natural causes or by wars and conflicts either foreign or domestic by the provision of financial or other potential assistance.
A statement read, "This is a proud moment and it will give us more strength and courage to spread our work and engagement with everything from education to opera, from environment to health, from the consequences of the global refugee crisis, to the need of employment in small and forgotten communities.
.
"We hope that these awards bring recognition, increase incredibility and open the doors to future success of charities.
"As a civil society organization, it gives us an opportunity to bring the most unlikely partners to create something extraordinary.
"It gave us the chance to use our expertise in creating networks, in building common purpose between different groups and different interests, in understanding other views, so that we can bridge the profound chasms in our society.
"We believe that British Muslim Charities are making a positive contribution to people’s lives both here and overseas because putting the needs of others is at the heart of the Muslim faith and the values of Muslim Global Relief."
