The City of Brampton in Ontario, Canada, hosts of the 12th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Weekend and Awards are to name a street after Bollywood legend Raj Kapoor.
'Raj Kapoor Crescent’ will be introduced into the infrastructure of the city.
The IIFA Weekend will host host a tribute to the patriarch of the Kapoor clan, Shri Raj Kapoor. Titled, ‘Raj Kapoor and the Golden Age of Indian Cinema’ at the TIFF Bell Lightbox.
The festival will also feature several pieces of memorabilia from RK films including the costumes, cut-outs and props used during the films which will be displayed in the Bell Lightbox atrium during the festival.
A series of paintings inspired by Raj Kapoor films by acclaimed Goa-based artist Seema Sardesai will also be showcased in the building.
Several members of the Kapoor Family will be present to witness the opening of the film festival on 26 June 2011 in Toronto.
The city will also like to induct Shri Raj Kapoor into the Brampton Hall of Fame, having a star placed there in his honour.
