Last weekend, I had three clients say to me that they really like the grey and silver hair that has been seen on the red carpets and on celebs Instagram posts.
I love this look myself but there no doubt that it’s a tricky one to achieve.
There is so much to consider. I have lost count of how many people I have had to turn away because they are unaware of the time and care that it takes to create the perfect grey/silver...
First of all, we have to take a look at your current colour. If it’s jet black, I would say that you’re not going to be grey any time soon. You have to be fairly light to begin with. There are two parts to going grey/silver. The first step is to get you as blonde as possible.
We are talking platinum blonde. There can not be any signs of warm tones. If there is and a grey is applied, it will look khaki.
What you want is a light grey/silver. So if you can’t get too, blonde you can’t be grey/silver.
Secondly, you will probably need to think about the sacrifice you will have to make on the length.
Your hair will not be in the same condition after all the bleaching that is would had witnessed. So it may be a little more than a few inches that has to come off.
You may consider using Olaplex to help out in this colour service this will minimise the damage done to the hair.
Now, if you are willing to go grey/silver, you most definitely have to think about the upkeep. Grey usually fades really fast so it’s important to use a good colour-saving shampoo.
I would recommend Paul Mitchell’s ultimate colour repair shampoo. So if you still are not put off by all that, maybe it’s one to think about.
