Dear Massi, Me and my husband are moving into our own house after living with my in-laws for the last year.
We are ordering all our furniture and choosing wallpaper colours and curtains.
My mother-in-law said she would pay for it all, which I know is very nice of her and is saving us a lot of money.
The problem is, she is picking everything and won’t let me have any input.
Her choice is really ugly.
My husband has no clue about interiors and doesn’t mind his mum doing up our house.
How do I put a stop to this?
Massi says, It is only natural that you wish your living space to reflect your identity.
Whilst it is very generous of your mother-in-law to pay for all the furnishings in your new house, this does not mean she can feel free to stamp her mark on your home.
Talk to her in a gentle manner and explain that you would appreciate her input and advice before you yourself make the final decision.
