Dear Massi, My mother-in-law is always taunting me, saying I am too fat for her son.
She keeps telling me how many of her friend's wanted my husband to be their son-in-law and how beautiful and skinny the other rishtas were.
She has started counting how many botees (meat pieces) I eat.
She caught me dipping slices of bread in the salan before dinner and made such a big deal about it saying most of my husband's salary must go on feeding me.
Now I've started eating half my meal in secret and the other half in front of her.
I don't know what to do.
Massi says, Your mother-in-law's comments are most certainly hurtful and uncalled for.
There is no justification for such demeaning comments.
Talk to your mother-in-law and explain clearly how her negative comments make you feel.
Tell her also that you are happy and confident with your appearance and you will not lose weight just because you feel pressurised to do so.
