Headline Publishing Group has announced the acquisition of the much-anticipated Sadia Azmat memoir - 'Sex Bomb'.
Stand-up comedian, podcast host and writer Sadia details how the two sides of her identity have fought and embraced each other over the course of her life. From being viewed as a 'sister' and a real 'cock-block', to growing up and being criticised by Muslim's and White people alike for speaking out on sex.
In the book she shares her experiences of dating Asian men and White men to her tumultuous relationship with her headscarf. In the end 'she looks to the future and asks, what does it mean to be sexually liberated?'.
Katie Packer, Commissioning Editor, acquired UK & Commonwealth rights from Chris Quaile at Individual Artist Management.
Katie said: ‘This book is everything you would want from a memoir; insightful, perspective-shifting, emotive, inspiring but more than anything, it’s funny. Sadia really takes you on a journey, and she might just challenge you a few times on the way. I’m very excited to be bringing such a fresh and entertaining new voice to Headline."
Sadia said: "I’m buzzing to be working with Katie Packer at Headline. It’s hasn’t always been easy admitting I’m a horny Muslim and I can’t wait to share all the details on how I’ve learned to love everything about my experiences".
Sadia is a British Asian stand-up comedian and writer from East London. Through a chance encounter with a comedian in a call centre, she was introduced to the circuit, and now she is a regular stand-up.
In 2018 Sadia launched her critically acclaimed BBC podcast 'No Country For Young Women' which was nominated as Best New Podcast 2019 and Best Entertainment Podcast 2020 at the British Podcast Awards. Sex Bomb is her first book.
'Sex Bomb' by Sadia Azmat will be published in May 2022 in Hardback.
