ALEXANDER (REX) FINLAY Peacefully on Sunday 15th November 2020 at Royal Blackburn Hospital aged 84 years. The dearly loved husband of Pamela, a much loved father of Peter and Sean, a dear father-in-law of Sharon. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends, former colleagues and students. Having commenced his teaching career at The Methodist College Belfast, he spent 10 years teaching in Singapore, Malaysia and Cyprus. Rex joined Moorland High school in Darwen and then had many happy years as deputy head teacher at Shadsworth / Queens Park High School. He also enjoyed serving his local community as a Magistrate for many years. During the current circumstances, a private family service and cremation will be held on Friday 27th November 2020 at 12.15 at Pleasington crematorium. Family flowers only, or if so desired, donations may be made in memory of Rex to Brain Tumour Research. c/o The Alty Funeral Service. Enq. Sign in to add a tributeRex was a humble and kind soul – he was an embodiment of what caring neighbours means - irrespective of religious boundaries or traditions. Rex touch many lives and my family is one such group and his lose will be felt for years to come. He will never be forgotten.
Rex you rest in peace and your fond memories will a reminder to us what a good soul you are.
