I have remembered Mrs. Robson so often over the years! She taught me A-level French in 1984-86 and gave me her own well-worn Italian grammar book, pushing me somewhat against my will to study and sit the O-level exam at the end of the year. I was so scared to let her down and passed with a top grade in both languages! Upon my return to Canada 33 years ago, I got my first job over other candidates because I spoke excellent French and some Italian! And so it continued.. so many excellent opportunities and longtime friendships made here because of what I learned from this wonderful lady. She had high expectations but was such an excellent teacher that a love of languages grew in all her students. Today was the first time in many years that I visited this newspaper website.. Unbelievable that I came across this news! My deep condolences to all the family at your very sad loss but I am so thankful that, even if it took me 35 years to be able to do so, I can now express a heartfelt thanks for someone whose influence on my life has blessed me many times over throughout the years. Thank you for believing in me, Mrs. Robson. May your soul rest in eternal peace.
