DAVID TOMLINSON Peacefully at home on Friday 20th August 2021, aged 82, David, the beloved husband of Maureen, his wife of 53 years. A hard-working man all his life, he was Chairman and Managing Director of R M Williams (Accrington) Ltd until his retirement. He started work at J W Bridges in Accrington for the Walker family and when Bridges closed, he still continued to work for Peter Walker at R M Williams. Music played a big part in David's life and as a boy he won the Silver Bugle award in the Church Lads Brigade and he would often be asked to play on Remembrance Day and other occasions, but David's true love was Rock n Roll and then later Country Music. A talented player, he played with Mark Day and the Knights, the Jay Turner Four, Kris Ryan and the Questions and also Mr Mack. But for more than 20 years he played with Royston Jones & Easy Listening. In addition to his wife Maureen, David leaves his beloved cat Susie, brother-in-law Robert, niece Tracy and her husband Andy, nephews George, Robert, Graham and their families. A funeral service celebrating David's life will take place at Great Harwood Chapel of Rest, Clayton Street, Great Harwood, at 10.00 a.m. on Thursday 2nd September 2021 officiated by Neil Overton, followed by burial on Great Harwood Cemetery at 11.00 a.m., everyone welcome and afterwards at Churchfield House, Great Harwood. Family flowers only please but donations in David's memory, if so desired, to East Lancs Hospice via the funeral director.
