My brother Martin and I were deeply saddened to learn of the loss of our dear cousin Carole, (whose mother Gladys was our late mother Margaret's oldest sister). Our family always gave a special welcome for Uncle Bill, Auntie Gladys and Carole Dawber whenever they visited, sharing many outings and Christmases together. The photograph shows Carole with myself on one of these visits back in 1953, when Carole was 7 or possibly 8 years old. There will always be a special place in our memories for our wonderful cousin, who was one of those truly special people one meets so rarely in a lifetime. It's difficult to believe Carole is no longer with us, but in a sense she always will be, where it really matters, in our hearts. Goodbye dear Carole, and I will continue to place flowers on your parents' grave in Leyland, so long as I am able to do so. Michael Walker (Leyland).

RIP Carole. Such a wonderful caring lady who always had time for everyone. A wonderful teacher who was so popular with children and parents and such a fabulous colleague who will be sorely missed. I was so proud to have worked with Carole and called her my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with all her family.
