Police have released CCTV images of men they wish to speak to in connection with a robbery at the home of honour killing victim Shafilea Ahmed.

Today Shafilea’s sister, Alesha Ahmed, was spared jail when she was given a 12-month suspended sentence for organising a robbery at her parents’ house.

Alesha Ahmed’s arrest ultimately led to the conviction of her parents, Iftikhar and Farzana, for murdering their eldest daughter.

While being interviewed about the robbery, Alesha, now 24, revealed to detectives for the first time that she and her siblings witnessed Shafilea’s murder seven years earlier.

Shafilea, 17, vanished in August 2003 and her decomposed remains were discovered in Cumbria in February 2004 but it was Alesha’s statement to police that provided enough evidence to charge the parents, leading to their convictions this year.

The 24-year-old was charged with robbery following a raid at her parent’s house in Liverpool Road, Warrington, on August 25 2010.

Cash and jewellery were stolen and none of the stolen items were ever recovered.

Detective Inspector Dougie Shaw, who is leading the investigation, said: “The men involved in the robbery remain outstanding. Inquiries are ongoing to identify these offenders and ensure they are brought to justice.

”The case remains open and lines of investigation into the outstanding offenders are continuing.”

As part of that investigation police have issued CCTV stills of two men they would like to trace in connection with the incident.

The men were captured on CCTV at a petrol station in the Castle Bromwich area of Birmingham on the evening of August 25, 2010.

Mr Shaw added: “We are urging anyone who has any information, which could assist with our inquiries, to come forward.

”Extensive inquiries have been carried out in relation to this incident and our work is ongoing. We are committed to doing all we can to trace those responsible.”

During the police investigation, a 25-year-old man from Bolton and a 28-year-old man from Worcester were arrested in connection with the incident. They were later released without charge.

Anyone with any information in relation to the identity of the men is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting Operation Ore or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
