Here we have three such diverse artists on the same track.
Arjit Singh, the playback singer responsible for the biggest smash hit track of 2013, ‘Tum Hi Ho’ from the Bollywood film ‘Aashiqui 2’.
Maxi Priest, one of the best-known reggae and soul artists of the 80’s and 90's with hits such as 'Wild World', 'Close To You' and 'Some Guys Have All The Luck', and finally Rishi Rich, an artist that achieved phenomenal success in British Asian music and went on to work with the likes of Britney Spears, Craig David and Misteeq, before breaking into Bollywood with the international hit 'Hum Tum' in 2004.
Put three artists, professionals in their own rights, together and you can easily end up with a recipe for disaster, however this trio have struck the perfect balance with ‘Kabi Jo Baadal Barse’ and I haven’t been able to stop listening to this song since the first time I played it.
The Asian, Bollywood and Soul influences are all there and they work together harmoniously in this masterpiece.
The music is well produced, lyrics relatable and the overall flow just works. Before I oversell the song (if I haven’t done already), I suggest you take a listen for yourself.
MY verdict: A beautiful song, showcasing the best of Rishi, Arjit and Maxi.
This song is perfect for the winter nights and needs to be listened to a few times, at a high volume, with the lights dimmed, preferably by a roaring fire… Or at least just at a high volume.
