A group of Muslim youth volunteers gathered to support Trafford Council and help plant 2200 trees in a Community Forest in Greater Manchester.

As part of their environmental commitment to serve the local community, the volunteers from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) joined forces with the Red Rose Forest (RRF) team to plant a total of 2200 trees in the community forest in order to transform this area into a greener, healthier and more satisfying place to live, work and invest.

AMYA volunteers from across Greater Manchester and Lancashire contribute in this second collaboration effort between AMYA and the RRF team (earlier tree planting session held in November 2013) to carry out what they see as their duty in accordance with their belief.

AMYA regional youth leader Mansoor Khan was delighted to see AMYA volunteers show so much eagerness for this activity: “We have been helping various groups plant trees in the Manchester area for many years as this act is something that we believe to be of much spiritual benefit due to the rewards mentioned in the sayings of the holy prophet of Islam (peace be upon him).

"However, this is not the sole motivation for our involvement. As Muslims we want to demonstrate that we care about our local community and the environment and that we are actively engaged to offer our support. We are very keen to continue our collaboration with the Red Rose Forest team in future events.”
