Labour's Prospective Parliamentary Candidate in Keighley John Grogan has appointed Anayat Mohammed as his Parliamentary Election Agent.
Mr Mohammed has lived in Keighley for 13 years and is married with four grown up children.
He has considerable experience working in both the private and voluntary sectors, and latterly as a senior local government official for a large West Yorkshire authority working on key Government strategies such as Cohesion (Integration) and Prevent (Counter Terrorism).
Anayat said, "I am delighted to be joining the Keighley & Ilkley Constituency Labour Party Team as John Grogan's agent. This government has done a lot of damage to the fabric of this country, policies that have divided communities, severe cuts to public sector jobs and critical services and their systematic damage to the NHS, all in the name of balancing the books.
"They will have us believe we are in a better place than 2010, we certainly don't think so in Keighley. I hope I can play my part in ensuring that John Grogan becomes the next Member of Parliament for Keighly & Ilkley".
John Grogan said: “The eyes of the nation will be on Keighley at the next General Election where often a handful of votes determine the result.
"A recent Keighley Constituency Opinion Poll published by Lord Ashcroft gave Labour a six-point lead over the sitting Conservative MP Kris Hopkins.
!Anayat has the skills and experience to make a big contribution to my campaign. I myself am a practicing Catholic and I know that Anayat is a practicing Muslim.
"Dealing with the many challenges facing Keighley certainly will mean people from different faiths and backgrounds working together and I hope Anayat and I can lead on this”
