A former police boss has launched his bid to become a Lancashire MP.
Bob Eastwood held a dinner at the Shai Qila Restaurant to launch his campaign to become MP for Blackburn. He said: “I am delighted to be part of this very important event and would like to share my priorities and ideas in my bid to make ‘One Blackburn’ - a place where everyone is treated fairly with equal access to a good education, excellent employment prospects for all, and the opportunity to succeed in business.
The parliamentary candidate added: “Rates and service charges for small businesses are far too high and seriously hinder progress and employment opportunities for Blackburn people.
“My vision includes all local children attending first rate schools in Blackburn. I will support head teachers who are concerned about how many schools are in special measures and those who feel that vital teaching time is wasted in order to focus on Ofsted reports.
“I will ensure they are given the political support needed to ensure all their pupils are encouraged to aspire and succeed in what they choose to do.”
