MP's Tom Brake, Paul Burstow and Simon Hughes launched the Tamil Friends of the Liberal Democrats.
The event took place in Sutton, South London and was attended by over a hundred members of the Tamil community.
Liberal Democrat Tom Brake MP said: “I am pleased to see my Party formally recognising the friendship that we have built with the Tamil community in the UK. “This is just the start of a mutually prosperous future together.”
Liberal Democrat Paul Burstow MP added: “It's great that there is now a friendship group which ensures the dialogue with the Tamil community continues and deepens."
Chair of the Tamil Friends of Liberal Democrats Joe Louis said: “The launch of the Tamil Friends of the Liberal Democrats is a real landmark in the relationship between the Tamil community and the Liberal Democrats. “The link between the Tamils and the Liberal Democrats is already strong and this initiative will strengthen it further.”
