A 14-year-old boy reportedly staged his own kidnapping in a bid to get money from his parents.

According to the Tribune, 14-year-old Zubair Ahmed Bajkani, from Hyderabad, Pakistan faked his own kidnapping and told his parents on the phone that the kidnappers demanded £23,000 approximately (Rs2 million- Rs2.5 million) for his release.

Police, however, tracked the mobile phone of the boy and found him alone near a river.

The boy later admitted to staging the entire episode.
