A woman has taken her father to court after he refused to allow her to marry the man of her choice.
According to Khaleej Times, the woman from the UAE took the decision to sue her father after he denied her permission to marry her fiancé.
UAE marriage laws dictate that a woman needs the consent of her father or male guardian to get married.
Having failed to convince her father to approve the marriage, the woman filed a lawsuit at the Al Ain Personal Affairs Court.
The woman asked the judge to "grant" her permission to marry the man or be permitted the consent of a male relative who would replace her father as guardian.
