Muslims, Christians and Atheists gathered at a debate evening in Preston.
The Exploring Islam - Tough Questions and Honest Answers series is organised by the Light Foundation.
The question posed was 'Does Britain Need Islam?'
Shaykh Idris Watts and Donna Hussain spoke about Muslims historically, and how they were pioneers in creating diversity within their communities.
Both speakers, as converts to Islam, gave insights into their personal lives offering examples of how their faith, Islam, has led them to be more inclusive, without having to abandon their Islamic principles and British values.
Co-Founders of Light Foundation, Dr. Arfan Iqbal and Nadeem Ashfaq said, "We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Ashton Methodist Church for allowing us to host the event at their venue, and we appluad them for their continued commitment to peace through difficult conversations and diologue.
"We also extend our sincere thanks to faith and civic leaders across Preston and beyond for attending and showing overwhelming support, and most importantly the general public who strongly felt that the evening had cleared up their misconceptions on Islam and Muslims."
