As part of the UK Government’s ongoing commitment to Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls, we are helping to recruit a team of 20 Community Advocates to act as role models for communities in England which may be most affected by ‘honour’ – based abuse.
We are looking for dedicated and empathetic people to join our team and support our mission of raising awareness and empowering action to help tackle honour-based abuse in the community.
As a community advocate you will play a vital role in engaging with members of the public to better understand what behaviours constitute honour – based abuses. These can range from Forced marriage to Female Genital Mutilation, Virginity Testing and more general behaviours including assault and coercive and controlling behaviour where honour is the motive.
In your role you will be helping to bring about change by signposting support that is available for victims or potential victims.
Your passion for social impact and strong communication skills will be essential in quickly building meaningful connections that help drive positive social change.
If you are passionate about supporting your community and have experience of working with honour-based abuse victims or with communities more generally we strongly encourage you to apply.
This is a voluntary role with expenses covered up to £2500 over a 6-week period.
