A charity says its work to help the less fortunate is based on the ideals of its founder who died after being diagnosed with cancer.

MATW (Muslims Around The World) Charity said it is inspired by the journey Ali Banat.  Born and raised in Sydney, Australia and of Palestinian origin Ali Banat was a successful and self-made businessman.

However, at the age of 29 his life took a dramatic turn with a life-altering diagnosis that would ultimately redefine his purpose. He would go on to set establish the Muslims Around The World Project.

The charity said: "In 2016, Ali sold everything he had and embarked on a journey to Togo, marking the beginning of the Muslims Around The World Project.

"Using his own wealth, Ali started by feeding and supporting orphans and widows in the most impoverished communities. He invested in agricultural tools and tractors, empowering communities to cultivate their land and achieve self-sufficiency.

"He constructed water wells to provide clean drinking water, built mosques for spiritual solace, and schools to educate and nurture the young.

"What began as a personal mission in Togo has blossomed into a global movement. Today, MATW operates in over 20 countries, providing essential aid and support to the most vulnerable populations."
