Muhammad Abdur Rahman has joined Coppull United as he looks to rebuild his career following health setbacks in the past year.
Coppull play in West Lancashire league Premier division and Rahman said he was delighted to be playing again.
A health setback in February 2023 sidelined him for a significant twelve months, a period in which he describes as ‘one of the most difficult moments in his life’.
Rochdale born Rahman faced a gruelling mental and physical battle to regain his fitness and rediscover his passion for the game.
Abdur Rahman said: “The twelve months I spent out of action were undoubtedly one of the most challenging periods of my life.
“I had to delve deep within myself and discover strengths I never knew I had. It was a tough process, but I persevered, determined to rebuild and start again”
He added: “Coppull United FC is a fantastic club with a great reputation. I'm honoured to have the opportunity to play for them and I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead."
Rahman's love for football began at the age of seven. However, he says a turning point came when he was selected for the top six of his school football team to attend a trial for Rochdale AFC's under 13s in 2015.
After a successful trial process, Abdur Rahman joined Burnley FC’s youth team in 2018 and made a significant impact at the youth ranks, where he quickly established himself as a key player in their under 16 and under 19 squads.
Over the course of his time with the Clarets, the strong defender amassed 47 appearances, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
Abdur Rahman clinched both the Performance of the Season and Player of the Month awards.
Rahman also participated in Jack Wilshere's NCf Elites London.
He has in the past represented Euxton Villa FC, Route One Rovers and Bolton County.
