A man was assaulted and racially abused after a row over a wheelie bin.
Police said the 20-year-old white man was walking along a back street off Leeds Road, in Nelson, when he was approached by a black Volkswagen Bora.
The paths of the car and the man were blocked by a wheelie bin and he was asked to move it for the men inside the vehicle, police said.
However, when the man refused "for lack of politeness", the men in the car jumped out and placed him in a headlock.
He was then punched, kicked and racially abused, leaving him with an open wound to his left ear and swelling to his face and back.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the attack, which occurred at around 6.15pm on Saturday.
One of the men is described as Asian, about 5ft 11ins and stocky, while the other was about 5ft 7ins and slim.
