An election candidate has had to make an embarrassing retraction after claiming boxer Amir Khan was attending one of her events.

Bushra Irfan an Independent candidate for Blackburn had claimed in a press release that the Bolton boxing star ‘will come back from training in the US, to speak for Bushra. and ‘Bushra’s campaign team is expecting world class boxer Amir Khan to speak at the event'.

But in a new statement it is claimed, “We write to clarify an error that has been made. We confirm that Amir Khan is not supporting our campaign nor was it ever proposed that he would attend the event'. Amir Khan is presently in the US training for his next fight.
