Foreign Secretary David Miliband visited Bury this week to support Labour hopeful Maryam Khan’s campaign to become the next MP for Bury North.
David Miliband said, “This election is the most important in a generation and the people of Bury North, and indeed people across the whole country, face a very clear choice between a Labour government that is fighting for a future fair for all, or a Tory government promising savage cuts to public services that would wreck the recovery and hit hard working local people.”
Maryam Khan, said, “I was delighted to welcome David to the constituency and give local people the chance to put their questions to him.
"He clearly laid out the choice faced by local people and I think the message is sinking in: if you value our good schools, children’s centres, hospitals and police force, Child credit then you need to vote for them.
"Only Labour is protecting vital frontline public services.”
