Zuber Issa visited Pakistan this week as part of a visit organised to encourage more investment in the country.
The EG Group co-founder visited the Finance Ministry of Pakistan as part of a delegation led by Lord Wajid Khan of Burnley.
He met with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, who told local news channels that the country was 'keen to facilitate investors in the country'.
The Finance Ministry of Pakistan posted: “Lord Wajid Khan, Member House of Lords along with a delegation of prominent businessmen from UK.
“Mr Zuber Issa, CBE, head of EG Group and Asda, Mr Mohammad Asim, Mr. Mohammad Tayyab, Mr Shakoor Ahmed, Mohammed Younas and Jaffar Iqbal called on Federal Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
“The delegation showed keen interest for investment in Pakistan.”
The finance minister spoke about a range of policies and measures being undertaken by the government to encourage investment, whilst the delegation noted the business-friendly policies of the government.
Mr Issa also joined Wajid Khan and Jaffar Iqbal in a visit to Gujrat, where a number of families of from across Lancashire and the North West hail from.
He was seen arriving via a helicopter and later planted a tree outside the Gujrat Gymkhana – a community centre and club.
Last week, Asda, which Zuber runs with brother Mohsin confirmed the completion of its £600 million deal to buy the Co-op’s petrol forecourt business.
The supermarket, said the move will see 2,300 workers move over from the Co-operative to Asda.
The new focus in forecourts and convenience stores comes after Asda’s £6.8 billion takeover by the Issa brothers in 2020 and private equity backers TDR Capital, who also own the EG Group forecourt giant.
