A sign has been spotted in a Bolton McDonalds branch after ‘disinformation’ and ‘inaccurate reports’.
Notices at a Bolton town centre McDonald’s have stated the company is ‘dismayed’ after false information was reported on the fast-food chain’s position in response to the conflict in the Middle East.
The sign reiterates that the corporation is not funding or supporting any governments involved in the conflict, abhors violence, and would proudly open its doors to everyone.
It reads: “We are dismayed by the disinformation and inaccurate reports regarding our position in response to the conflict in the Middle East.
“McDonald's Corporation is not funding or supporting any governments involved in this conflict. Our hearts are with all of the communities and families impacted by this crisis.
“We abhor violence of any kind and firmly stand against hate speech, and we will always proudly open our doors to everyone.
“We are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our people in the region while supporting the communities where we operate”.
Talk of boycotting the brand has been trending via social media after reports that a franchise in Israel said it would be providing free meals to soldiers.
Yesterday, part of a New Year’s article written by President and Chief Executive Officer at McDonald's Corporation, Chris Kempczinski, read: “Importantly, we continued to stand in solidarity with communities around the world, living our purpose and values to the fullest through difficult times.
“Our hearts remain with the communities and families impacted by the war in the Middle East.
“We abhor violence of any kind and firmly stand against hate speech, and we will always proudly open our doors to everyone.
“And whether the earthquake in Japan or the tragedies that struck Morocco and Hawaii last year, our System is always there to support.
“I also recognize that several markets in the Middle East and some outside the region are experiencing a meaningful business impact due to the war and associated misinformation that is affecting brands like McDonald’s.
“This is disheartening and ill-founded. In every country where we operate, including in Muslim countries, McDonald’s is proudly represented by local owner-operators who work tirelessly to serve and support their communities while employing thousands of their fellow citizens.
“That local community connection is the genius of the McDonald’s System”.
