A prayer room has been opened in memory of a 13-year-old schoolgirl who died in a crash on the M61.
Sana Patel lost her life in July 2019 after a Vauxhall Corsa hit the family's Nissan Qashqai between junctions six and eight of the motorway.
A fundraiser was set up in memory of the Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School student with a staggering £8,000 raised.
The money has been used to refurbish the prayer room carpet at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital’s Spiritual Care Centre.
In July 2019, students were invited to Cavalier Carpets LTD for a tour around the factory to see the creative process for themselves and choose the design.
Three years on, Sana’s family and school friends were invited to visit the prayer room to see Sana’s legacy.
Trust chaplain Imam Fazal Hassan said: “We at the chaplaincy department and as a Trust share in the grief and loss of lovely young Sana who sadly was taken by her creator in his care.
“We are aware that the loss of any child is likely to be one of the greatest tests and tragedies any parent can face on the face of this earth."
"This legacy will continue to live both at the Spiritual Care Centres at Royal Blackburn Hospital as well as Burnley General Hospital for a long time to come and will serve as a great comfort to her family, friends and teachers knowing that this legacy will be a means of recurring blessing and reward for as long as it is being used to worship the Almighty."
