Schoolboy Zain Ahmed picked-up the Achievement in Sport Award at the Fusion Awards.
The ceremony held in the Concert Hall at King George’s Hall Blackburn was attended by guests from across the North West. The 2018 ceremony was hosted by Noreen Khan.
This year the Sport honour looked to honour someone under the age of 18.
Zain is six times North West Schoolboy Amateur boxing champion.
The school pupil took up the sport at the age of eight and has continued to make good progress.
He won silver in the tri-nations tournament and has travelled across the UK and Ireland to compete at boxing tournaments.
In the past year he has competed at regional and national level and is also part of England Boxing's talent pathway.
England Boxing’s talent pathway model allows the induction of more boxers into the Talent Programme and allows the programme to be tailored to the boxer’s ability, requirements and future potential.
Zain, a member of Queensway ABC in Rochdale, fought for his most recent North West title at the 147 Club Worsley, Manchester forcing his opponent into a standing count of eight in the third round and won on a unanimous points decision.
He is set to compete in the East Midlands Box Cup at the end of July.
Proud father Manny said: “I’m very proud of what Zain has achieved so far at a young age in the sport of boxing.
“It’s another title to add to his growing collection.”
The talented fighter is hoping to reach new heights in the coming years.
